Old City Loop

This loop will give you a look at a variety of different sights within the core of the old city. Starting in the Herrengasse in front of the Landhaus this loop will take you across the Hauptplatz and up the old thoroughfare – the Sporgasse. Past a number of sights, small shops, cafes and restaurants, the loop continues to the Freiheitsplatz and the Schauspielhaus and the “Stadtkrone,” an ensemble of St. Giles Cathedral, the Mausoleum, the Castle and the Old University. With the early 15th century – during the reign of Frederick III – the Stadtkrone was the spiritual and political center of Graz. Continuing along the Bürgergasse our route passes several former feudal palaces and representative town residences, then via the Abraham-a-Santa-Clara Gasse, to the Glockenspiel and Färberplatz. We complete the tour in the area of the Färberplatz and Mehlplatz – a quarter called the “Bermuda Triangle” because of its many eateries.
